Bills that need catching up!!!

I feel very fortunate that I love to read.  I made a goal to read 24 new books this year and so far I have read five books and currently I am reading two which I shall be done by next week.  I read on the train ride (50 minutes) to and from work and I read for a bit a night when all my personal chores are completed. I mostly read "cozy" mysteries and I love them!  So do yourself a favor and pickup a good book and read!

Keep It Moving!!

It is nice to find that your name is an acronym and it is very fitting in my life right now.  Since November 30, 2015 I have been moving along with my goals.  My divorce was finalized by the court on January 8, 2016 and I have changed most of my personal information back to my legal name.  I am very excited and happy to have ME back!  I am just waiting on my new social security card to change everything at work and then it will all be complete.

I also realized that I need to update my resume along with changing my email account associated with all the career sites I am registered to.

So I made a to do list for this action using Google Keep:

Then I have another K.I.M. reminder list which I am most exited about!

I am going to keep myself accountable and not let anyone bring me down.  I have goals and I know with hard work and perseverance I will be able to make those goals become reality.

Until the next update...

Belated Update

I intended to post yesterday, but I was just busy with work and life.  So the good news is that my divorce was finalized yesterday!  Lucky for me this was an amicable break-up and I learned a few lessons regarding marriage and finance and I will touch upon that in a later post.

Back to business, here is the list of the debt in collections that I currently owe:

I also owe 2,600.00 towards the car loan, $647 towards AMEX so that is a total of $10,211.00 for all the known debt.  I have already paid the first two and next pay period I am going to pay the Comcast bill off as well.  I would have paid the NJNG bill as well, however my car needs to be repaired so that will be about $600.

The car is becoming a major money pit for me, so I have decided that after I repair it next weekend, I will no longer be putting anymore money in it for repairs.  I will start saving money every month towards a used vehicle, but there really is no rush.  I started using Simple Bank and I love the fact you can create a financial goal and it will "stash" the money away for you.  Everyone should check this out.  I just started using this bank back in November and I what I find the most helpful is that for every transaction that you make you will get an alert on your phone if you use the app.  For me this has been very helpful in curbing my idle spending and I have become more mindful of what I actually want to spend my money on.  Well anyways check it out, it is really is simple to use and navigate.

So my primary goal for this year is to pay all that debt off.  Considering what I bring monthly in and the bills I actually have, I know this is a viable plan.  Currently I have an excess of $2,000 a month that can go towards savings and paying bills off.

Until the next time

Staying Serene for 2016

2016 is upon us! Last year flew by so quickly and thankfully able to emotionally heal from all the bullshit in 2014. I know I am in a better place now and I have peace and closure from the past. During the last two weeks of 2015 it was very quiet at work and I took the time to think realistically and logically about my 2016 goals. I wrote down the following goals: Pay off All Debt, go on a nice vacation with my SO, actually go back to school and read 24 books.  Yes these goals are all doable. I have already started paying off the little medical bills that I owe. The last week of December I paid a 72.40 medical bill and a 75.00 library bill. Today I paid three smaller bills totaling 27.10 and started paying down on my AMEX bill (50.00).  I feel very good about my progress so far and I will continue to pay either an entire bill off or at least make a payment out if each paycheck.  I have other news but that can for a longer post 😊. In the next post I will post the listing of my debt as well as my monthly bills and share some other news!

Slow Weekend

Well this weekend was not as productive as I hoped.  Friday I heated up a frozen pizza, relaxed and watched TV.  Saturday I did a couple of mini-chores around the house.  I did end up buying this lazy-boy-rocker for only $15 and a 4-cup coffee maker for $4.  The chair had an “old” odor to it, but the frebreze took care of that and the coffee maker works fine, both are great buys in my book.  Now I can save money by making coffee in the morning instead of paying $2 a cup.

Sunday I had planned to make my weeks’ worth of breakfast, however I had dinner and drinks with my landlord and apparently she like to put about 2 ½ shots of alcohol per drink, I wish I knew this before I had the first drink.  She told me on Sunday morning I probably had eight shots; I only had three drinks!  So obviously, I was not feeling very energetic yesterday, but I did manage to get two loads of laundry done.  So tonight after work, I have some dishes to wash and need to straighten out my apartment.  I think I am going to make a Korean Tofu dish tonight, I have been craving that lately and today’s weather makes it a good day for it!

Everyone has his or her own recipe I just make it like my mom made it for me with beef, tofu, rice cakes and whatever veggies I have in my fridge.  I think I am just going to make a crust-less quiche for breakfast this week.  I had one breakfast burrito left and that I ate this morning.  I have bacon or breakfast sausage, cauliflower and some other stuff I can mix up and throw in the oven while I cook and clean.  I did a quick inventory of my fridge this morning, I have ½ cheese-steak sub, leftover pizza, and leftover Chinese food.  Lunch this week is leftover Chinese food, chicken noodle soup, meatball w/ Italian rice ball and a chicken and cheese sandwich.  The rest is for my dinner at night, I do not like to waste food!  That pretty much wraps up my weekend and Monday!
