Update on Debt

Nothing exciting to report except I paid $1,000 towards my debt last week! And will be paying 804.00 towards debt this week YEAH!!! I am determined to get all my credit card debt paid off by April 2009! I am pretty excited about how intense I have become with regards to the debt repayment. To put it bluntly I am sick of owing money on such little debt. I want to be able to snowball all that money towards my car and get that hunk of junk paid off as well! Freeing myself from the ball and chain of debt is liberating with every step that I take. I also have been listening to the Dave Ramsey program that my wonderful mother gifted me to help continue my motivation ! Over the weekend, I paid a visit to Walmart and purchased my daughter's Halloween costume. I am happy to report that I only spent a total of 25.00 for the costume, plush 8.56 for the candy so I am below what I decided to budget this year for Halloween! Then I finally returned a guinea pig ball back to the store, they gave me store credit (no receipt) and went and used that credit towards guinea pig food, litter and hamster litter. Unfortunately one of the guinea pigs passed away last week so we are down to one and have no plans to bring another piggie into the home. Just a note to anyone who wants a guinea pig as a pet. They are very good pets to have, however you must be prepared to care a great deal. They must have a good diet and exercise regiment and they crave attention. Anyways, I also worked in the panty this week, cleaned out the expired canned foods and made an inventory of the canned items. Pretty pleased with what I have and have plenty to plan out meals for the next few weeks. I only need to go to the store for milk, bread and eggs.
This week's dinner menu is planned as:
Mon - Soup and rice
Tue - Korean BBQ Ribs and Rice
Wed - Chicken and rice
Thur - Leftovers
Fri - Homemade Pizza
Sat - Whole Chicken, potatoes, canned veggies
Sun - Something Italian.

I know we eat a lot of rice, but my daughter does like and I love it. Again, lunch will be brought from home four times this week. Today was soup, tomorrow and Thursday will be salmon roll ups and probably indulge in the Sushi on Friday. I can't help it, its my weakness!

Facing the Music...

I have finally sat down after about a month of ignoring my finances and finally faced them! Its not as grim as I first thought. Granted I my credit card expense went up to $5,800 but I know with self-discipline, I will be able to knock that debt off very soon. Currently I have 500.00 to pay bills with. So I first paid the $121.05 school payment, then I paid the Walmart card off (YEAH) it is only $135.00 I was left with $243.95 I paid the electric bill $118.00 and that will leave me with $125.95. I am not behind on any bills, so I will apply the 125.00 towards the minimum payment for a visa card and throw the rest at the next small credit card amount.

What really has be thrown off a loop is my daughters cheerleading expense , who would have known that it would cost $15.00 for a bow, whatever, this is the first activity she has really enjoyed besides gymnastics, so its worth her happiness. I did cancel my Direct TV, Verizon Phone and Verizon DSL, I went and subscribed to cable and that will save me about $60 a month or $960 a year! Plus the cable internet is more reliable and with my majicjack phone I will only have a phone bill of $20 per year. Money Saved!!!!

I have also resolved to hold myself more accountable by updating my blog more frequently until I am debt free!
